Alexandra Horowitz is a writer, professor and researcher. She has written the books Our Dogs, Ourselves; The Year of the Puppy; On Looking; Inside a Dog; and Being a Dog. Her work has been published in the New Yorker,^[1] the New York Times,^[2] the Atlantic,^[3] and on National Public Radio (NPR).^[4] Horowitz went to Columbia University and now works as a Senior Research Fellow at Barnard College.

Alexandra Horowitz was a finalist for the SB&F Prize for Excellence in Science Books^[5] in 2018 for her book Being a Dog: Following the Dog into a World of Smell. The book Inside a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell and Know was praised as an Outstanding Science Trade Books^[6] (2017) and was selected for the Junior Library Guild^[7] (2016).

In Horowitz's books she talks about how to feel and sense through her nose. Through making her book she has learned how important it is for a dog to be able to smell things and explore their world.^[8]

Alexandra Horowitz got a M.S. and Ph.D at University of California, San Diego in Cognitive Science. Horowitz went to University of Pennsylvania for College. She also got a B.A. in Philosophy from University of Pennsylvania.
