The Acura RDX is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by Acura, a luxury division of Honda. It was first introduced in 2006 and has since gone through three generations.
The first generation of the Acura RDX was launched in 2007, using a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produced 240 horsepower. The RDX was available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and featured a five-speed automatic transmission with SportShift capabilities. It was one of the few luxury compact SUVs at the time with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
In 2010, the car received a facelift adding a front-wheel drive option and the new "power plenum" grille.
3,717 lb (1,686 kg) (FWD) 3,838 lb (1,741 kg) (AWD)
The second generation of the RDX debuted in 2013 with a significant upgrade to a 3.5-liter V6 engine, replacing the previous turbocharged four-cylinder. This change improved fuel efficiency, with the RDX now achieving an EPA estimate of 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive system was simplified compared to the previous generation.
This generation also introduced more advanced technology, such as a 5-inch display, keyless entry, and the option of a Technology Package with an upgraded navigation system. In 2016, the RDX received a facelift which included updated exterior features and additional safety technologies such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
The third generation of the RDX, launched in 2019, marked a shift towards modern technology with the introduction of a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 272 horsepower. A 10-speed automatic transmission was added, along with the new Touchpad Interface for infotainment control.
This generation also introduced a new version of the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, which could send up to 70% of power to the rear wheels.
A facelift for the 2022 model included improved sound insulation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
