Abbyville is a city in Reno County, Kansas, United States. In 2020, 83 people lived there.[3]

History

Abbyville was a station on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.[4] The town was named after Abby McLean, the first baby born there.[5]

The first post office in Abbyville was created in 1886. It was moved from Salt Creek.[6]

Abbyville is at 37°58′14″N 98°12′11″W / 37.97056°N 98.20306°W / 37.97056; -98.20306 (37.970576, -98.202961). The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.27 square miles (0.69 km2). All of it is land.[2]

Weather

Abbyville has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Abbyville has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[7]

2020 census

The 2020 census says that there were 83 people, 42 households, and 32 families living in Abbyville. Of the households, 90.5% owned their home and 9.5% rented their home.

The median age was 61.3. Of the people, 95.2% were White, 1.2% were Native American, 2.4% were from some other race, and 1.2% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino were 2.4% of the population.[3][8]

2010 census

The 2010 census says that there were 87 people, 42 households, and 29 families living in Abbyville.[9]
