7aum Arivu (pronunciation: Ēḻām aṟivu) (English: Seventh Sense) is a 2011 Indian science fiction-martial arts movie.
Production
It was written and directed by AR Murugadoss, featuring Suriya and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles and Johnny Tri Nguyen as the main antagonist. The movie, produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin began production in May 2010 and was released on 25 October 2011 in Chennai and a day later, on Diwali, worldwide. The visual effects were done by US based Legacy effects, making this their second Indian film after Enthiran.
Reviews
7aum Arivu received mixed critical response upon release, and opened strongly at the box office. It was also dubbed into Telugu as 7th Sense which was released with the Tamil original.[5] The film was also dubbed in Hindi as Chennai v/s China in 2014[6] as well as in Malayalam with the original title. The movie was also one of the movies selected by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce for being the Indian submission for Oscar under the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.[7][8][9]

Box office
7aum Arivu had a strong opening on 25 October, a day prior to Diwali.[10] The film had a huge six-day opening weekend worldwide.[11] In Chennai alone, the film grossed ₹90 million in its lifetime.[12] Indian film trades considered 7aum Arivu a commercial success,[13][14] despite a high budget and distribution price.[15]
