The 2022 West Java earthquake was an earthquake that happened near Cianjur, West Java on 21 November 2022, at 13:21 WIB (UTC+07:00). It had a magnitude of 5.6. The earthquake destroyed more than 8,100 houses in Cianjur.[1] It is the deadliest earthquake in Indonesia since the 2018 Sulawesi earthquake.[2]

The earthquake happened on 21 November 2022, at 13:21 local time. It was felt in nearby cities, including Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Rangkasbitung.[3] The earthquake's epicenter was not deep. It was 11 km below the ground. Because of that, the earthquake caused big damages.[4]
Victims
The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure recorded 335 deaths.[5] However, the Regency of Cianjur recorded 635 deaths.[6]
