2019 college admissions bribery scandal

The 2019 college admissions bribery scandal was a conspiracy for influencing undergraduate admissions decisions at several American top universities.[1] The investigation into the conspiracy was called Operation Varsity Blues (it was named after the movie Varsity Blues).

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said that starting in 2011, at least 51 parents of high school school students conspired to use bribery and other forms of fraud to illegally have their children admitted to top universities and colleges.[2] The case is the largest of its kind to be prosecuted by the US Justice Department.[3]
