18 people were killed and more than 20 were injured when jihadists opened fire on a Turkish restaurant and hotel in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on 13 August 2017.[2] The attackers took hostages after being cornered by police and were killed in an ensuing shootout.[1]
Ouagadougou was also the site of a similar attack in 2016.[3]
It is suspected by the government that al-Qaeda Maghreb affiliate was behind the attack.[3]
