The regional leagues East (Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland), Central (Upper Austria, Styria, Carinthia) and West (Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg) served as second tier to the National League. The respective state leagues of the federal state associations acted as the third level. FC Wacker Innsbruck won their first title. It was a duel with SV Austria Salzburg, which was decided in the penultimate round.

After the season Wacker Innsbruck and WSG Wattens merged. In the next season they played under the name SWW Innsbruck. WSG Wattens played in the Regionalliga. SC Wacker Wien merged with SK Admira at the end of the season.
