Međunarodne sankcije protiv SR Jugoslavije

[[, 1074 od 2. oktobra 1996. godine (neposredno posle potvrđivanja rezultata izbora u Bosni i Hercegovini).

Sankcije su samo učvrstile Miloševićevu vladavinu. Najveći deo robnog prometa odvijao se na crnom tržištu. Najprofitabilniji poslovi u to vreme bili su šverc nafte i cigareta.

Hronologija

15. maja 1992. godine, Savjet bezbjednosti Ujedinjenih nacija je u rezoluciji broj 752 zahtijevao da odmah prestanu svi oblici spoljnog miješanja u Bosni i Hercegovini i Hrvatskoj od strane jedinica JNA i da se te jedinice povuku, stave pod kontrolu republičke vlade ili raspuste i razoružaju. Nakon što je SR Jugoslavija odbila da se povuče iz konflikta u Bosni i Hercegovini (zvanično se povukla, ali ne i stvarno[1][2]) i Hrvatskoj, međunarodne sankcije su uvedene. Miloševićevi mediji su nakon toga neprestano ponavljali da su sankcije "nepravedne i ničim izazvane".[3]

Iako su srbijanske vlasti tvrdile da "Srbija nije u ratu", predstavnici međunarodne zajednice su smatrali da to nije istina:

Dva su koraka koje bi Savezna Republika Jugoslavija mogla sada da preuzme i koja bi, po mom mišljenju, imala izuzetno pozitivno dejstvo: prekid svakog snabdevanja od strane Vojske Jugoslavije armije bosanskih Srba i pomoć trupama UN da zatvore granice SRJ prema Bosni i Hercegovini.[4]

Pod uticajem međunarodnih sankcija došlo je i do velike ekonomske krize u zemlji i do pojave hiperinflacije, koja je zabeležila i izdavanje novčanice sa najvećim apoenom (500.000.000.000 dinara) ikada u svetu.
