David Horsley

David Horsley (11. mart 1873 – 23. februar 1933) bio je anglo-američki filmski producent, najpoznatiji kao vlasnik i osnivač tvrtke Nestor Motion Picture Company, za koju je 1911. otvorio prvi stalni filmski studio u današnjem Hollywoodu.

Rodio se i odrastao u siromašnoj rudarskoj porodici u Engleskoj, a u dobi od 9 godina je radeći u rudniku doživio nesreću zbog koje mu je amputirana desna ruka. Porodica mu je 1884. emigrirala u grad Bayonne u američkoj državi New Jersey. Mladi Horsley je tamo vodio radionicu za izradu bicikla, a potom biljarsku dvoranu, prije nego što je sa bratom Williamom i Charlesom Gormanom, bivšem zaposlenikom studija Biograph Film osnovao Nestor Motion Picture Company s kojom je snimao filmove. Zbog pritisaka Edisonove monopolističke organizacije MPCC se preselio u Kaliforniju, gdje je tamošnjoj produkciji pogodovala i klima s mnogo sunčanih dana, kao i raznoliki krajolici za eksterijere. Horsley je nakon osnivanja svog studija 1912. postao jednim od osnivača Universal Film Company, ali je zbog svađe sa Carlom Laemmleom izašao iz kompanije 1913. Kasnije je pokušao voditi egzotični zoološki vrt, ali je taj posao propao, te je ostatak života proveo u siromaštvu.

Njegov sin David Stanley Horsley (1906 - 1976) je u Hollywoodu radio kao fotografski stručnjak za specijalne efekte.
