Afrička ploča je jedna od glavnih litosfernih ploča na Zemlji i ima površinu od 61,334.000 km².[1]

Karakteristike

Afrička ploča obuhvaća afrički kontinent, a proteže se zapadno do Srednjeatlantskog hrpta.

Zapadna strana ploče je divergentna granica sa Sjevernoameričkom pločom na sjeveru i Južnoameričkom pločom na jugu, poznata kao Srednjeatlantski hrbat. Na sjeveroistoku graniči s Arabijskom pločom, na jugoistoku s Indo-australskom pločom, na sjeveru s Evroazijskom pločom, a na jugu s Antarktičkom pločom. Sve ove granice su divergentne ili šireće, osim sjeverne granice s Evroazijskom pločom.
