Оспитале́т[3], Оспитале́т-де-Льобрега́т (исп. Hospitalet de Llobregat, часто просто исп. Hospitalet, кат. L'Hospitalet de Llobregat [ɫuspitəˈɫɛd də ʎuβɾəˈɣat], кат. L'Hospitalet [ɫuspitəˈɫɛt], дословно — «приютик на (реке) Льобрегат»[4]) — город и муниципалитет в Испании, входит в провинцию Барселона в составе автономного сообщества Каталония. Муниципалитет находится в составе района (комарки) Барселонес. Занимает площадь 12,49 км². Население — 257 057 (2012 г.).

История

Первые упоминания о человеческих поселениях относятся к эпохе неолита; артефакты указывают на человеческое жилье возле реки Льобрегат. Найденные римские артефакты датируются 2-м веком до н. э., найденные похоронные украшения, изображающие[кат.] голову Медузы, теперь хранятся в Археологическом музее Каталонии в Барселоне[кат.].

Были найдены письменные свидетельства о Provençana (оригинальное название поселения), датируемые X веком.

Нынешнее название происходит от названия приюта при церкви Святой Евлалии[кат.] Santa Eulàlia de Provençana на каталонском языке[5], использовавшегося паломниками в средние века. Слово hospitalet в каталонском языке образовано с помощью уменьшительного суффикса -et от слова hospital, которое в языках европейских стран обозначало приют для путешествующих, паломников и нуждающихся, где им оказывалась разнообразная помощь. Слово Оспиталет использовалась и в названиях других населённых пунктов, где были такие приюты, как в случае другого каталонского топонима Вандельос-и-ла-Оспиталет-дель-Инфант.

Погибшая за христианскую веру во времена Римской империи юная Евлалия Барселонская стала одной из ранних христианских святых, общих для католической и православной церкви. [6][7]

Поселение сохраняло статус деревни до XIX века, но затем были построены первые текстильные фабрики, которые вызывали рост населения, и 15 декабря 1925 года, король Альфонсо XIII присвоил ему статус города. 1960-е и 1970-е годы вызвали второй бум прироста населения, за счёт иммиграции из бедных регионов Испании. В 80-е и 90-е годы город начал существенно преобразовываться и модернизироваться в культурном, экономическом и социальном значении.
