Масковые игуаны, или плоскоголовые земляные игуаны[1] (лат. Leiocephalus) — род ящериц, образует монотипическое семейство Leiocephalidae инфраотряда игуанообразных. Ранее это семейство рассматривалось как подсемейство Leiocephalinae в составе игуановых, а затем в составе Tropiduridae.

Описание

Ящерицы хорошо отличаются от других игуановых способностью скручивать хвост в спираль[2].

Распространение

Виды масковых игуан обитают на островах Вест-Индии, два вида интродуцированы во Флориду.
