На территории Африки находятся 37 городов с населением более 1 млн человек[когда?]. 3 города из них — Каир (11 место в мире), Лагос (24 место в мире) и Киншаса (27 место в мире) — имеют население свыше 10 000 000 человек, 34 города с населением более 1 млн человек. Страны с крупнейшими городами: Нигерия, Эфиопия, Египет, Южно-Африканская Республика, Демократическая Республика Конго, Судан. 18 стран имеют города-миллионеры, кроме вышеперечисленных, это также Камерун, Зимбабве, Кения, Мозамбик, Ангола, Республика Конго, Мадагаскар, Сомали, Танзания, Уганда, Ливия и Алжир.
