    • Смотровая вышка — для наблюдения за окружающей местностью / территорией. Например, смотровая вышка для спасателей на пляже или у плавательного бассейна; в спортзалах для тренера или судьи, наблюдающего за игрой участников и т. д.
    • Сигнальная вышка — для передачи сигналов (ранее с помощью костров; радиовышка, телевышка и прочие; также, диспетчерской вышкой обычно называют командно-диспетчерский пункт).
    • Вышка плавательного бассейна — для прыжков в воду.
    • Буровая вышка — для бурения скважин — часть буровой установки.
    • Съёмная вышка — средство для технического обслуживания и ремонта контактной сети на железнодорожном транспорте.
    • Охотничья вышка — сооружение для охоты из засады.
    • Парашютная вышка — стержневая инженерная конструкция с площадкой в верхней части, консолью, балансирующим механизмом и постоянно развёрнутым парашютом предназначенная для имитации прыжка.
    • Пулемётная вышка — высокое лёгкое сооружение для устройства огневой точки, размещение пулемёта.
