Вирпа́зар[1][2] (черног. Virpazar) — село в Черногории, у западной оконечности Скадарского озера, у слияния рек Ораховштица[себ.] (Ораоштица, Ораховска[3], Orahovštica) и Црмница[серб.] (Црминица[3])[4], к северу от перевала Суторман[себ.][3][5] и порта Бар[2][6]. Административно относится к общине Бар.

История

Крепость Бесац[серб.], XV век

Вир-Базар (Вирбазар[4]) был важным торговым поселением[7]. Название означает «Старый Рынок»[8] от осман. بازار‎ (bazar, тур. pazar) — «рынок».

На холме над городом находятся руины турецкой крепости Бесац[серб.] (XV век). В 2013 году крепость отреставрирована[7].

Транспорт

В Вирпазаре находится станция железной дороги Белград — Бар[7].

В 1905 году черногорское правительство передало итальянской компании Compagnia di Antivari[итал.] право на постройку и эксплуатацию железной дороги Бар — Вирпазар колеёй 750 мм[9] длиной 9 км. 13 сентября 1908 года первый локомотив прошёл по дороге Бар — Вирпазар[10]. В 1909 году завершено сооружение узкоколейной железнодорожной линии Бар — Вирпазар[11].
