007 Arhivat în , la Wayback Machine. Comitatul Providence 1703 A fost format în 1703 ca Providence Plantations County și re-numit Providence County în 1729. Reședința comitatului este Providence.

Sediul comitatului este Wakefield. Washington County este local mai bine cunoscut ca South County, în română, Comitatul de Sud.

Notă -- Toate comitatele din statul Rhode Island (foarte asemănător cazului celor trei comitate din statul Delaware) nu sunt "comitate" în sensul atribuit de definirea standard, care implică guvernare locală, pentru că ele nu (mai) au defel o astfel de guvernare. Numele lor de comitate s-a păstrat până astăzi semnificând o împărțire geografică și istorică regională.
