William Pearson (1767 — 1847) foi um astrônomo inglês.

Foi um dos fundadores da Royal Astronomical Society. Autor de Practical Astronomy, 2 volumes, 1825 e 1829.[2]

Obras

  • Selected Speeches for the Young Gentlemen of the Seminary, 1801. This was a textbook for the teaching of Rhetoric.
  • Introduction to Practical Astronomy, Vol 1, 1824, Vol 2 of plates, 1829. This contained 31 plates drawn by John Farey, jr and engraved by Edmund Turrell
  • For Rees's Cyclopaedia he contributed 63 articles on practical astronomy. Amongst these are: Astronomical, Chronometrical, Optical etc. Instruments, Horology, Planetary Machines, Watch. The full list is in Gurman and Harratt, p290
  • He contributed the article on Planetary Machines to the Edinburgh Encyclopaedia
  • He contributed numerous articles to Nicholson's Journal, the Philosophical Magazine and the periodicals published by the Royal Astronomical Society.The full list is in Gurman and Harratt, p289
