Urla

A view of Urla

Urla é uma cidade e o centro do distrito do mesmo nome na província de Esmirna, na Turquia. Seu nome é derivado da grego Βουρλά ("Vourla") que significa pântano.

O centro do distrito está localizado no meio do istmo de uma pequena península que se projeta para o Norte no golfo de Esmirna. Sua área urbana se estende para o Leste e cobre uma ampla região que também inclui uma grande parte da península. [1]

No mesmo local erguia-se Clazômenas, uma pólis portuária da Grécia antiga, cujas ruínas são atualmente muito visitadas.
