Shawn Dou (竇驍, Xian, 15 de dezembro de 1988) é um ator chinês-canadense [1]. Ele é casado com Laurinda Ho, filha do magnata dos cassinos de Macau, Stanley Ho [2].
Biografia
Dou nasceu em Xian, capital da província de Xianxim. Seus pais migraram para o Canadá quando Dou tinha apenas dez anos. Dou estudou na Escola Primária David Lloyd George em Vancouver. Lá, Dou aprendeu Karatê e ganhou o campeonato por dois anos consecutivos [3]. Depois de se formar na DLG em 2001, ele estudou na Escola Secundária Sir Winston Churchill também em Vancouver, e se formou lá em 2006. Ele retornou à China e foi aceito pela Academia de Cinema de Pequim em 2008. Quando Dou estava em seu segundo ano de estudos, ele participou das audições para The Love of the Hawthorn Tree e posteriormente foi escolhido como o protagonista masculino [4][5].
Carreira
Dou ganhou fama por seu papel no filme de Zhang Yimou, The Love of the Hawthorn Tree (2010) [6]. Ele também estrelou o filme de drama romântico, The Seal of Love (2011), dirigido por Huo Jianqi [7]. Dou estrelou filmes de vários gêneros, principalmente Wolf Totem (2015) [8] e Youth Dinner (2017), [9] que lhe rendeu o prêmio de Melhor Ator no 11º Festival de Cinema Chinois de Paris [10].
Dou ganhou reconhecimento popular por seu papel como um príncipe antagônico no drama histórico altamente popular, Princess Agents [11][12]. Depois disso, ele estrelou o drama épico de fantasia, Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy [13]
Em 2019, Dou estrelou os dramas românticos See You Again, ao lado de Tiffany Tang [14], bem como em Ten Years Late [15]. No mesmo ano, ele co-estrelou o thriller de ação Breakout: Sky Fire [16]
Em 2020, Dou se reuniu com Tiffany Tang no drama histórico, The Legend of Xiao Chuo, interpretando Han Derang [17].
