Magda Szabó (Debrecen, 5 de outubro de 1917 - 19 de novembro de 2007) foi uma escritora húngara. Ela escreveu dramas, ensaios, estudos, memórias e poesia.[1]

Biografia

Magda Szabó nasceu em Debrecen em 1917 a 5 de outubro.

Ela recebeu um diploma em Debrecen como professora da língua húngara e latina. Depois da universidade ela começou a ensinar. Entre 1945 e 1949 trabalhou no Ministério da Religião e Educação Pública, mas foi demitida por razões políticas.

Em 1947 ela casou com Tibor Szobotka (1913-1982), que também foi um escritor húngaro. Ela escreveu um livro sobre o casamento que se chama Megmaradt Szobotkának. 

Obra literária

Ela escreveu em quase todos os gêneros da literatura.

No início, foram publicados dois volumes de poesia, Magda Szabó até foi premiada (Baumgartner-díj, 1949) mas o prémio foi retirado já no mesmo dia, por razões políticas, e durante vários anos a censura não permitiu publicar nenhuma obra. Mais tarde (1958) voltou à cena literária com romances e tornou-se famosa com este género.

O romance mais conhecido e aclamado internacionalmente é Az ajtó (A porta), traduzido a várias línguas, incluindo português.[2] A obra foi adaptada ao cinema também[3] em 2012, com o mesmo título por István Szabó, estrelado por Helen Miller.
