Inhambupe[6] é um município do estado da Bahia, no Brasil. Localiza-se a 153 quilômetros de Salvador. Sua população estimada em 2024 segundo o IBGE era de 35 397 habitantes.

Topônimo

"Inhambupe" é uma palavra proveniente da língua tupi, significando "no rio dos inhambus", através da junção de ïnã'bu, "inhambu",[7] 'y , "água, rio"[8] e pe, "em".[8]

História

O município foi instalado em 1728. De acordo com a tradição local, no final do século XIX, o místico Antônio Conselheiro passou pela cidade, antes da Guerra de Canudos.[9]
