Humpame

Humpame (em fom: Hunkpame)[1] é um templo ou convento dedicado ao culto vodum. Significa, literalmente, o lugar onde está dentro a divindade (hun). É chefiado por um sacerdote ou sacerdotisa-chefe residente à frente de uma quantidade de auxiliares fixos que aumentam nas ocasiões de culto e iniciações. Os neófitos chegam a viver quase um ano no humpame até que atinjam a condição de vodunces e suas respectivas famílias os venham resgatar simbolicamente.[2]

Dentro do humpame se fala uma ou mais línguas sagradas especiais, o humbê, que variam de acordo com o vodum principal que é ali cultuado. O humbê se compõe do próprio fom e seus dialetos mesclado com idiomas vizinhos como o gem (mina), o nagô (iorubá), baribá, etc. e existe um grande tabu em se expressar em humbê fora do humpame.

O espaço sagrado, este grande sítio, ou grande fazenda onde fica o cué chama-se humpame, que quer dizer "fazenda" na língua jeje-fom. Sendo assim, a casa chama-se cué e o local onde fica situado o candomblé, humpame.
