Embryonic é o décimo segundo álbum de estúdio da banda norte-americana The Flaming Lips, foi lançado em 2009.[1] É o primeiro álbum duplo a ser lançado pela banda, anunciado durante uma entrevista com o vocalista da banda de Wayne Coyne:

Vários outros artistas contribuíram para várias faixas do álbum. O matemático alemão Dr. Thorsten Wörmann contribuiu para a faixa "Gemini Syringes", a banda de synthpop MGMT contribuiu para a música "Worm Mountain", e Karen O (vocalista do trio de rock alternativo Yeah Yeah Yeahs) contribuíram para as canções "I Can Be a Frog" e "Watching the Planets"[3]. As contribuições de Karen O foram gravadas por Wayne Coyne pelo telefone[4].
