Arodi (filho de Canaã)

Arodi[1] ou Arvade,[2] em hebraico: ידורא (pronuncia-se Ărvâdîy),[2] foi,segundo a narrativa bíblica, um dos filhos de Canaã, filho de Cam e, posteriormente, filho de Noé. Arvade significa "quebrar longe" ou "vagabundo agitado"[3] e seus descendentes são citados na Bíblia como "arvadeus",[4] e, segundo este livro, povoaram a ilha fenícia de Arad, a alguma distância da costa do Líbano, e próxima a Trípoli.[3]

Narrativa bíblica

Os filhos de Noé foram Sem, Cam (ou Cão) e Jafé,[5] e os filhos de Cam foram Cuxe, Mizraim, Pute e Canaã.[6] Canaã teve, como descendentes, Sidom e Hete,[7] e foi, também, o ancestral dos jebuseus, amorreus, girgaseus,[8] heveus, arqueus, sineus,[9] arvadeus, zemareus e hamateus; e depois se espalharam as famílias dos cananeus.[10]

Canaã foi amaldiçoado por Noé porque Cam, seu pai, viu Noé nu, após Noé ter se embriagado; de acordo com a maldição, Canaã seria servo de Sem e de Jafé.[11]

Identificação

Canaã gerou a Sidom, seu primogênito, a Hete, aos jebuseus, aos amorreus, aos girgaseus, aos heveus, aos arqueus, aos sineus, aos arvadeus, aos zemareus e aos hamateus. I Crônicas 1:13–16

Habitantes de Sidom e de Arvade eram os teus remadores; os teus sábios, ó Tiro, achavam-se em ti, eles eram os teus pilotos. Ezequiel 27:8

Homens de Arvade com o teu exército estavam sobre os teus muros ao redor, e os gamaditas nas tuas torres; penduraram os seus escudos à roda dos teus muros; eles aperfeiçoaram a tua formosura. Ezequiel 27:11
