Ação Games foi uma revista brasileira especializada em jogos eletrônicos que circulou entre 1991 e 2002.

Histórico

Lançada como um especial da revista esportiva A Semana em Ação, que substituiu Placar na Editora Abril em agosto de 1990, teve sua primeira edição em dezembro de 1990, sob o título de A Semana em Ação: Especial Games.[3] Como as palavras em maior destaque no título eram "Ação" e "Games", a revista logo passou a ser chamada de Ação Games. Houve ainda uma segunda edição, em março de 1991, mas a "revista-mãe" não durou muito, sendo extinta no primeiro semestre daquele ano. No entanto, o especial sobre games teve seu título comprado pela Editora Azul, que passou a editá-lo como revista mensal a partir de outubro de 1991, com o título de Ação Games. Foi criada por, entre outras pessoas, Marcelo Duarte, jornalista da ESPN Brasil e que hoje comanda o programa de vídeo games Game Up, da mesma emissora.[4]

Com notícias sobre lançamentos e dicas de como passar de fases em vários jogos, a revista cresceu por cerca de dois anos, junto com o mercado de jogos eletrônicos no Brasil, e chegou a ser publicada na Argentina com o nome de Action Games.[4] Quando a linha editorial começou a privilegiar um fabricante em detrimento de outros, a qualidade começou a ser questionada. A concorrência agressiva só acentuou essa situação, ainda mais quando, em 1994, as revistas Super Game e Game Power se fundiram pela Editora Nova Cultural e mudaram o cenário do mercado.[4]

O surgimento da Internet e as alterações em rápida sucessão do perfil da revista, que culminaram na criação do Frango (personagem criado pelos redatores, que sempre respondia às cartas dos leitores de forma grosseira e falava mal da própria revista) em agosto de 2000 (ed. 154), também contribuíram para que a revista fosse perdendo espaço até fechar de vez, em janeiro de 2002, na edição de número 171.[5] De acordo com o último editorial, a revista deixaria de ser mensal e seria lançada como especiais sem periodicidade. Somente duas dessas edições foram lançadas, ambas em 2003.[carece de fontes?]
