Magonidzi

Magonidzi – wpływowy ród punicki w starożytnej Kartaginie.

Pierwszym znanym przedstawicielem rodu był żyjący w VI wieku p.n.e. Magon I[1]. W kolejnych pokoleniach potomkowie Magona sprawowali rządy jako królowie Kartaginy[a]. Kolejnymi z Magonidów byli:

Po śmierci Himilkona w 396 p.n.e. kartagińscy możni wykorzystali okazję do odebrania królom dotychczasowych uprawnień – odtąd władza nie była już dziedziczona przez Magonidów, zaś dowództwo nad armią przeszło w kompetencje wybieralnych strategów. Wtedy też powstał Trybunał Stu Czterech mający cementować w państwie kartagińskim rządy arystokracji[4].
