U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) er en amerikansk føderal politietat underlagt Kongressen. Etatens oppgave er å beskytte USAs føderale lovgivende myndighet.

U.S. Capitol Police ble opprettet i 1828 for å patruljere og beskytte kongressbygningen i Washington, D.C. Mandatet har etterhvert blitt utvidet til å sørge for en rekke forskjellige politi- og sikkerhetstjenester for Kongressen og dens medlemmer, ansatte og besøkende. Tjenestene utføres gjennom diverse spesialenheter, et nettverk av fot- og bilpatruljer og stasjonære politiposter. Etaten hadde over 2300 tjenestemenn og sivilt tilsatte i 2021.[1]

På grunn av maktfordelingsprinsippet er etaten direkte underlagt Kongressen og ledes av et styre bestående av tre tjenestemenn valgt av kongressmedlemmene; Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate (Senatets våpensersjant), Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives (Representanthusets våpensersjant) og Architect of the Capitol (Kongressarkitekten).

Idag består hovedoppgavene i å beskytte liv og eiendom, forebygge, oppdage og undersøke kriminelle handlinger, håndheve trafikkregler i hele komplekset av kongressbygninger, parker og gjennomfartsveier og beskytte kongressmedlemmer, kongressansatte og deres familier i USA.

Kun fire tjenestemenn er blitt drept i etatens tjeneste. I 1984 ble sersjant Christopher Eney drept i et treningsuhell, mens betjent Jacob Chestnut og detektiv John Gibson ble skutt og drept av en mentalt forstyrret våpendesperado i 1998. En tjenestemann ble skadet under angrepet på kongressbygningen 6. januar 2021, og døde dagen etter av skadene.[2]
