U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) er grensevakten i USA. Den er organisert som en paramilitær avdeling under etaten U.S. Customs and Border Protection, som selv er underlagt Sikkerhetsdepartementet.[1]

Historie

USBP har sin historie tilbake til 1904, men ble offisielt opprettet av Kongressen 28. mai 1924.[2] Hovedformålet var å patruljere og beskytte USAs grenser mellom grenseovergangene.

Oppgaver

Etter terrorangrepet 11. september 2001 har USBPs fokus vært beskyttelse av grensene mot terrorister.[3]

Ansatte

USBP har over 20 000 uniformerte tjenestemenn (2009).
