Tixagevimab

Tixagevimab er et monoklonalt antistoff (MAK) som (mars 2021) er under utprøving i den medisinske behandling av covid-19-pasienter. Det benyttes i kombinasjon med MAK Cilgavimab (som antistoffkombinasjon under navnet AZD7442[1]). Det utvikles av AstraZeneca.

Tixagevimab ble fremstilt rekombinant i ovarialceller fra grå dverghamster (CHO-celler). Antistoffets tunge gamma-kjede består av 461 aminosyrer, den lette kappa-kjeden av 219 aminosyrer.[2] Medikamentet sikter seg inn mot SARS-CoV-2-virusets piggprotein. Strukturen i et isolert antistoff av type IgG1 fra serumet av covid-19-rekonvalescent ble således modifisert at molekylet forblir lengre i kroppen enn et fysiologisk antistoff (Long Acting Antibody, LAAB). Slik skal det også kunne beskytte mot SARS-CoV-2-infeksjon i seks til tolv måneder.[1]
