Subtalamus
Subtalamus er en del av hjernen, nærmere bestemt diencephalon. Den viktigste delen er den subtalamiske kjernen. Funksjonelt er også globus pallidus en del av subtalamus selv om den topografisk er en del av telencephalon.
Anatomi
Under forsterutvikling er subtalamus en del av hypotalamus, men skilles av hvit substans fibre fra capsula interna. Postnatalt ligger subtalamus under talamus, derav 'sub' (betyr under). Den ligger dorsolateralt til hypotalamus.
