Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (1927-2013) var en britisk forfatter. Hun vant Bookerprisen og flere Oscars.

Hun ble født i Köln i Tyskland, men familien flyttet til Storbritannia i 1939. Hun ble britisk statsborger i 1948. I 1951 ble hun gift med en indisk arkitekt og de flyttet kort tid etter til India. Hun flyttet til New York i 1975 og ble amerikansk statsborger i 1986.

Hennes bøker handler stort sett om India. Hun er også kjent for hennes filmmanuskripter for Merchant-Ivory Productions.[8]
