Protomphralidae er en utdødd gruppe (familie) av fluene (Brachycera), som sammen med mygg (Nematocera), utgjør tovingene (Diptera).
Fossiler
De to beskrevne artene stammer fra øvre jura og nedre kritt (mellom 165 og 112 millioner år før nåtid).
Systematisk inndeling
Det er nokså uklart om de to slektene faktisk står hverandre nær systematisk. Det er også uklart hvilke grupper som er familiens nålevende slektninger, kandidater kan være familiene Therevidae og Scenopinidae.
