Polakker

Polakker (fra polsk polak)[1] er en slavisk folkegruppe som snakker det vestslaviske språket polsk. 98 % av Polens befolkning er polakker. Polsk tales også i Vilnius fylke i Litauen. Det bor også rundt 20 millioner polske statsborgere utenfor Polens grenser, primært som arbeidsinnvandrere i andre EU- og EØS-land i kortere eller lengre perioder.

I senere år har mange polakker innvandret til Norge. Det ble i 2011 ble anslått å være i alle fall 120,000 fastboende polakker i Norge, noe som gjør dem til den største immigrantgruppen I Norge.[2]

Eksonym

Det norrøne ordet for polakker er «læsir».[3][4]
