Onthophilus er en slekt av biller som hører til familiegruppen stumpbiller (Histeridae).

Onthophilinae er nokså små og brede, rundede, oftest mørkfargede stumpbiller. De fleste arten har påfallende overflateskulptur, som ribber, knøler og groper.

Stumpbillene kan finnes i mange ulike habitater, men de fleste er på en eller annen måte knyttet til råtnende dyre- eller plantemateriale. De er rovdyr som lever av andre insekter, for eksempel fluelarver eller billelarver. Noen arter er knyttet til reir av gnagere.

Slekten er utbredt i Holarktis.
