Nedre Stjørdal prestegjeld

Værnes kirke

Nedre Stjørdal prestegjeld var et prestegjeld tilhørende Stjørdal prosti. Det omfattet sogn i Stjørdal kommune i Nord-Trøndelag, og hovedkirken var Værnes kirke.

Nedre Stjørdalens kirkesogn er nå en del av Stjørdal kirkelige fellesråd, og underlagt Stjørdal prosti i Nidaros bispedømme i Den norske kirke.

Historikk

Ved kgl.res. av 28. juli 1849 ble det vidløftige Størdalen prestegjeld delt i to nye, Nedre og Øvre Stjørdal prestegjeld. Nedre Stjørdal prestegjeld bestod av hovedkirken Værnes og anneksene Skatval og Leksdal, hvilket skulle betjenes av to prester, sognepresten og en kapellan. Ved kgl.res. av 6. juli 1892 ble det tillatt å bygge kapell på gården Elvran nordre i Lånke sogn. Elvran kapell fikk eget kirketilsyn ved kgl.res. av 2. mars 1901.[1]

Fra 2004 ble prestegjeldene som administrativ enhet faset ut av Den norske kirke, og fra 2012 gikk de også ut av lovverket.[2]
