MBDA er en europeisk utvikler og produsert av missiler[5][6]. Det ble grunnlagt som en fusjon av franske Aérospatiale-Matra Missiles (av EADS, nå Airbus Group), italienske Alenia Marconi Systems (av Finmeccanica) og britiske Matra BAe Dynamics (av BAE Systems) i desember 2001.[7] Selskapet er eiet av moderselskapet til grunnleggerne: Airbus, Finmeccanica og BAE Systems.

Forhistorien til MBDA var joint-venture-selskapet Euromissile. Daværende Bölkow (tysk firma) og Nord Aviation (fransk firma, utvikleren av Exocet), samarbeidet for å erstatte det eldre SS.11-panservernmissilet som var i bruk i begge land med det som ble missilet Euromissile HOT. Et par år senere fusjonerte Bölkow inn i MBB mens Nord Aviation fusjonerte inn i Aérospatiale. Disse to firmaene dannet så senere selskapet Euromissile for å utvikle og produsere missilene MILAN, Roland og HOT. Aérospatiale og MBB (gjennom sitt moderselskap DASA) fusjonerte til EADS i år 2000.

I 2015 hadde selskapet 10,000 ansatte. Samme år hadde gjennomførte selskapet ordrer for 5,2 milliarder euro og hadde en ordrebok på 15,1 mrd euro. MBDA jobber med over 90 lands militære styrker globalt.
