La Libertad på Commons

La Libertad (også kjent som Puerto de La Libertad eller lokalt bare som El Puerto) er en by og en kommune i departementet med samme navn i El Salvador. Byen ligger ca 35 km fra hovedstaden og er en del av San Salvador Metropolitan Area.

Kommunen hadde i 2013 en befolkning på omlag 35 600 mennesker.[2] Næringslivet er dels basert på jordbruk og i større grad på tjenesteytende sektor (turisme) og fiskeri. La Libertad skiller seg ut ved å være et populært sted for fritid og strandliv nær ved landets hovedstad. Fra midt på 1800-tallet har La Libertad vært San Salvadors havn for skipsanløp.

Den populære fritidsbyen har et stort utvalg av barer, kjøpesentre, hoteller og sjømatrestauranter, alt er attraktivt og strategisk plassert langs stranden.
