Hovedserien 1956-57 var navnet på det øverste nivået i det norske seriesystemet i fotball som gikk fra juli 1956 til juni 1957. Hovedserien var delt opp i to avdelinger, med åtte lag hver. Odd vant gruppe A, og Fredrikstad gruppe B. I finalen mellom de to lagene vant Fredrikstad 6-1.
