Elizabeth de Burgh (født ca. 1289 i Dunfermline i Fife i Skottland, død 27. oktober 1327 i Cullen Castle i Banffshire) var den andre konen til Robert I av Skottland, også kjent som Robert Bruce.

Elizabeth ble født som datter av Richard Og de Burgh, den mektige jarlen av Ulster og en nær venn av Edvard I av England.

Bryllup og kroning

Elizabeth møtte antagelig Robert Bruce ved det engelske hoffet og de ble gift i 1302 ved Writtle, nær Chelmsford, Essex, England.

Robert og Elizabeth ble kronet som konge og dronning av Skottland på kroningsstedet Scone Abbey den 27. mars 1306. Kroningen ble holdt til tross for det engelske kravet om overherredømme over Skottland, og den nye kongen måtte straks sende sin dronning, sammen med den øvrige kongelige familie, til Kildrummy Castle for at de skulle være i sikkerhet under beskyttelse av kongens bror, Nigel.

I fangenskap

Etter det skotske nederlaget etter slaget ved Methven 19. juni 1306 beleiret engelskmennene festningen som den kongelige familie oppholdt seg i. Festningen falt da engelskmennene bestakk en smed med «alt det gull han kunne bære» til å sette ild på kornbeholdningen. Engelskmennen hengte og kappet hodet av Robert Bruces bror og deretter det samme med de øvrige mennene på den beseirete festningen.

Engelskmennene fengslet Bruces søstre Mary og Isabel, grevinne av Buchan, i et trebur festet til veggene i slott i Berwick og Roxburgh, og de sendte Bruces 12 år gamle datter Marjorie Bruce til et nonnekloster. Ettersom den engelske kongen ikke ville opprøre jarlen av Ulster ble Elizabeth sent til husarrest i England.

Åtte år senere, etter at Robert Bruce fikk sin store seier ved slaget ved Bannockburn i 1314 ble Elizabeth endelig satt fri i utveksling mot tilfangetatte engelske adelsmenn.

Elizabeth fødte sin mann to sønner og to døtre, John, Matilda, Margaret og David (den framtidige kong David II av Skottland).

Død

Elizabeth Bruce døde den 27. oktober 1327 i Cullen Castle i [Banffshire, og er begravd i Dunfermline. Hennes ektemann døde åtte måneder senere.
