Diplomøkonom

Diplomøkonom er en utdanningsgrad som kan gis etter avsluttende eksamen fra et treårig studium i bedriftsøkonomi og administrative fag. I Norge er det bare Handelshøyskolen BI som tilbyr diplomøkonom-studium. Graden tilsvarer i dag en bachelorgrad. Det er en lavere grad enn siviløkonom.

Graden ble opprettet i 1968, da BI-studium ble utvidet fra to til tre år. Å ta kurs på kveldstid fikk navnet bedriftsøkonomstudiet.[1] I diplomøkonomstudiets tredje år ble det innført spesialisering som fra starten hadde tre tilbud, det ene tilbudet var i regnskap, finans og investering, den andre spesialiseringen i statistikk og operasjonsanalyse og tredje retning var markedsføring.[2]
