Cuiabá på Commons

Cuiabá (utales kujaˈba) er hovedstad og en kommune i delstaten Mato Grosso i sentral-vestregionen av Brasil.[2] Byen ble grunnlagt i 1727, fikk bystatus i 1818 og ble delstatshovedstad i 1835. I 2006 hadde Cuiabá om lag 543 000 innbyggere. Byen har vokst sammen med nabobyen Várzea Grande og tilsammen danner de et storbyområde med om lag 750 000 innbyggere. Cuiabá deles i to av elva Rio Cuiabá. Byen er ofte et utgangspunkt for reiser til våtmarksområdet Pantanal.
