CoviVac (Vietnam)

COVIVAC er en covid-19-vaksinekandidat utviklet av Institutt for vaksiner og legemiddelbiologi i Vietnam[1][2] (engelsk: Institute of Vaccine and Medical Biologicals, IVAC).

Vaksinen er den andre vaksinen mot covid-19 som er blitt utviklet i Vietnam. Den 21. februar 2021, to måneder før man først trodde, begynte den testfase der man prøver den på et betydelig antall mennesker. COVIVAC har vært studert av IVAC siden mai 2020, med prekliniske forsøk i India, USA og Vietnam; vaksinens stabilitet er blitt evaluert ved Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai i New York City.[3]

Den 15. mars 2021 ble seks frivillige injisert med vaksinen på Hanoi medisinske universitet.

COVIVAC er en likvid vaksine med eller uten adjuvanter, og produksjonsteknologien er av type Newcastlevektorvaksine, basert på produksjonsteknologi på kyllingegg med embryoer.[4]
