Alphaville er en fransk dystopisk science fiction-thriller fra 1965 regissert av Jean-Luc Godard. Hovedrollen spilles av Eddie Constantine. Filmen handler om den amerikanske privatdetektiven Lemmy Caution, som ankommer Alphaville, en futuristisk by på en annen planet. Oppdraget hans er å ta til fange eller uskadeliggjøre Dr. von Braun. Von Braun har noen år tidligere forlatt De Ytre Land, og er nå ansvarlig for Alpha-60, datamaskinen som styrer Alphaville.
Filmen vant Gullbjørnen under Filmfestivalen i Berlin i 1965.
Den er blitt beskrevet som en distansert og absurdistisk kriminalfilm henlagt til et fremtidssamfunn.[1]
Lemmy Caution er en hemmelig agent med kode-nummer 003 fra the Outlands. Han reiser til Alphaville, hvor han skal posere som en journalist ved navn Ivan Johnson. Han påstår at han arbeider for Figaro-Pravda. Først begynner han å lete etter den savnede agenten Henri Dickson (spilt av Akim Tamiroff) og deretter skal han fange eller drepe skaperen av Alphaville: professor von Braun (spilt av Howard Vernon)
Til slutt planlegger han å ødelegge hele Alphaville og dens diktatoriske datamaskin - kalt Alpha 60. Alpha 60 er et sansende datasystem produsert av von Braun, og som har full kontroll over hele Alphaville. Alpha 60 har forbudt alle frie tanker og individualistiske konsepter som kjærlighet, poesi eller følelser over hele byen. Navnet «professor von Braun» skal ha vært en referanse til den tyske rakett-forskeren Wernher von Braun.
