AT&T Inc. er det største telekommunikasjonsselskapet i USA. Selskapet har hovedkontor Dallas i Texas.

Det moderne AT&T ble dannet i 2005 da SBC Communications kjøpte sitt tidligere moderselskap, AT&T Corp., som var grunnlagt i 1885. Som ledd i fusjonen tok SBC det mer berømte navnet AT&T (opprinnelig en forkortelse for American Telephone and Telegraph).

I løpet av det meste av 1900-tallet hadde AT&T monopol på telefontjenester i USA. Selskapet begynte sin historie som American District Telegraph Company, grunnlagt i St. Louis i 1878.^[6]Etter å ha utvidet tjenestene til delstatene Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma og Texas, gjennom en serie fusjoner, ble selskapet endret til Southwestern Bell Telephone Company i 1920, som da var et datterselskap av American Telephone and Telegraph Company.^[7] Sistnevnte var en etterfølger av det opprinnelige Bell Telephone Company grunnlagt av Alexander Graham Bell i 1877.^[8]^[9] The American Bell Telephone Company dannet datterselskapet American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) i 1885.^[10] I 1899 ble AT&T morselskapet etter at American Bell Telephone Company solgte sine eiendeler til datterselskapet.^[11] Selskapet ble omdøpt til AT&T Corp. i 1994.^[12] Antitrustsøksmålet fra USA mot AT&T i 1982 resulterte i avhendelsen av AT&Ts («Ma Bell») lokale driftsdatterselskaper^[13] som ble gruppert i syv^[14] Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs), ofte referert til som «Baby Bells», noe som resulterte i syv uavhengige selskaper.^[14]

I 2005 kjøpte SBC sitt tidligere morselskap AT&T Corp. og overtok dets merkevarebyggingen, med den sammenslåtte enheten som navngav seg selv AT&T Inc. og brukte sin historie, en versjon av sin ikoniske logo og aksjehandelssymbol som ble lansert 30. desember 2005.^[15] AT&T Inc. kjøpte BellSouth Corporation i 2006, det siste uavhengige Baby Bell-selskapet, og gjorde dets tidligere fellesforetaket Cingular Wireless (som hadde kjøpt AT&T Wireless i 2004) heleid og omdøpte det til AT&T Mobility. AT&T Inc. kjøpte også mediakonsernet WarnerMedia i 2016,^[16]^[17] med den foreslåtte fusjonen bekreftet 12. juni 2018^[18] og målet om å gjøre AT&T til den største og kontrollerende aksjonæren i Time Warner og endre merkevaren (som logo og navn) det til WarnerMedia i 2018. Selskapet trakk senere sin eierandel i WarnerMedia i 2022 og fusjonerte det med Discovery, Inc. for å opprette Warner Bros. Discovery, og skapte avstand til sin medieavdeling.
