Schams (retoromansk Val Schons) er ein del av Hinterrheindalen i den sveitsiske kantonen Graubünden.

Schams er den midterste av tre dalar langs Hinterrhein. Han er skild frå Rheinwalddalen lenger oppe i elva av Roflaschlucht, og lenger ned i elva av Viamalakløfta frå Domleschg/Heinzenbergdalen. Hinterrhein renn gjennom dalen hovudsakleg frå sør til nord og fell frå ei høgd på 1094 moh når ho kjem ut av Roflaschlucht, der Val Ferrera kjem inn frå høgre, til 883 moh ved Raniabrücke.

Schamsdalen grenser på begge sider til fjellrekkjer på kring 3000 meter over havet. Dei høgaste toppane på vestsida er Pizzas d'Anarosa (3000 moh), Bruschghorn (3056 moh) og Piz Beverin (2998 ) På austsida er den høgaste toppen Piz Curvér (2972 moh) på grensa til Oberhalbstein.

Dei største busetnadane ligg nær elva. Den venstre dalsida, lokalt kalla Schamserberg, som stig jamt opp til Piz Beverin, vert nytta til jordbruk opp til 2200 moh. På høgresida av dalen strekkjer skogar seg ned til dalbotnen.

Kommunar

På høgresida av elva finn ein dei større landsbyane Andeer og Zillis (med landsbyen Reischen) og Pignia, og på venstresida Clugin og Donat, alle i høgder kring 1000 moh. I Schamserberg ligg landsbyen i kommunen Casti-Wergenstein og landsbyane Pazen og Farden i kommunen Donat. Høgare opp, kring 1500 moh, ligg Lohn, Mathon og Wergenstein.

Det er i alt åtte kommunar i deldistriktet Schams. Desse er i tillegg til dei nemnd over Ferrera i Val Ferrera, og Rongellen i nordenden av Viamala.
