Samuel Leroy Jackson (fødd 21. desember 1948) er ein amerikansk skodespelar og filmprodusent. Han blei kjend og kritikarrost tidleg på 1990-talet gjennom filmar som Jungle Fever (1991), Patriot Games (1992), Amos & Andrew (1993), True Romance (1993), Jurassic Park (1993) og samarbeidet sitt med regissøren Quentin Tarantino i Pulp Fiction (1994), Jackie Brown (1997), Django Unchained (2012), og The Hateful Eight (2015). Jackson er ein særs produktiv skodespelar som har spelt i over 100 filmar, som Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), Unbreakable (2000), Shaft (2000), The 51st State (2001), Black Snake Moan (2006), Snakes on a Plane (2006), i Star Wars-prequel-trilogien (1999–2005) og i Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tidleg liv

Jackson vart fødd i Washington D.C. som son av Elizabeth (fødd Montgomery) og Roy Henry Jackson.[1] Han vaks opp som einebarn i Chattanooga i Tennesee.[2] Han blei oppseda av mora, som jobba på fabrikk og seinare som innkjøpar for eit psykiatrisk sjukehus, og av hennar slektningar.[3][4] Faren hans budde vekke frå familien i Kansas City i Missouri, og døydde seinare av alkoholmisbruk. Jackson fekk berre møtt faren sin to gonger i løpet av livet.[3][5]

Jackson var elev ved fleire rasesegregerte skuler.[6] Han gjekk til sist ut frå Riverside High School i Chattanooga. I skuletida spelte han trompet og valthorn i skuleorkesteret.[7] Gjennom barndomen hadde han ein problem med stamming. Han lærte å takla mykje av stamminga gjennom å «lata han var andre folk som ikkje stamma» og ved å bruka bannordet «motherfucker» som bekrefting.[8]
