De United Grand Lodge of England (U.G.L.E.) is een van de oudste reguliere koepels van de vrijmetselaarsloges ter wereld. De Verenigde Grootloge van Engeland werd opgericht in 1717 onder de naam Grand Lodge of London.

De United Grand Lodge of England heeft een bijzonder groot gezag in de wereld. Samen met de Grand Lodge of Scotland en de Grand Lodge of Ireland vormen zij een autoriteit op vrijmetselaarsvlak. De Reguliere Grootloge van België en de Orde van Vrijmetselaren onder het Grootoosten der Nederlanden hebben vriendschappelijke verhoudingen met de United Grand Lodge of England.

In 1751 scheurden een rivaliserende groep vrijmetselaars zich af en richtten een concurrerende grootloge op, de Antient Grand Lodge. De reden hiervoor was te vinden in het feit dat de Grand Lodge of London begon af te wijken van zijn oorspronkelijke beginselen, ancient landmarks genoemd. Hierdoor stonden de beide grootloges bekend als Antients en Moderns. De rivaliteit tussen beiden duurde 63 jaar.

In 1809 werd er een vergelijk tussen beide grootloges onderhandeld en in 1813 fuseerden beide obediënties tot de United Grand Lodge of England

Vandaag bestaat de United Grand Lodge of England uit 47 provinciale grootloges in Engeland en Wales die 6.071 loges verenigen, 1 metropolitane grootloge voor Londen die 1.512 loges verenigt (waaronder de van oorsprong Nederlandse Gastvrijheid Lodge) en 32 district grootloges buiten Engeland en Wales die 730 loges vereniging. In totaal zijn er 8.322 loges die allen samen 270.000 leden tellen.
