Exploitatie

Ontginning van een mijn in Peru.

Exploitatie is het uitbaten van bezittingen. Dit kan de ontginning van een mijn of een stuk grond zijn, het gebruik van een gebouw of een product of het uitvoeren van een lijndienst. In negatieve zin, en in het bijzonder wanneer het over mensen gaat, kan het ook uitbuiting betreffen. Wanneer een bezitting te intensief gebruikt wordt is er sprake van overexploitatie. Indien de kosten hoger zijn dan de opbrengst spreekt men van een exploitatietekort.
