Marik empang

Marik Empang merujuk pada hiasan gubahan manik yang dipakai pada leher dikalangan kaum wanita masyarakat Iban di Sarawak.[1] Gubahan Marik Empang telah menjadi warisan turun temurun dikalangan masyarakat Iban di Sarawak.

Dalam bahasa Iban marik bererti manik, sementara empang merujuk pada bulatan, sebagaimana orang berpegangan tangan dalam bulatan tarian atau "bulatan manik".

Marik Empang terdiri daripada hiasan dada yang diperbuat daripada manik leper. Ia merupakan hiasan tradisi kaum wanita suku kaum Iban. Hasil kerja manik, warna yang digunakan dan reka bentuknya dapat membezakan etnik Iban dari etnik lain dengan mudah. Ia sering dikenakan bersama pakaian tradisi masyarakat Iban dan juga dikenakan bersama rantai rinjit, rawai, luneung dan tali pinggang yang diperbuat daripada timah yang kebiasannya bewarna hitam yang dikenali sebagai ngepan.[2]


Marik Empang juga pernah ditonjolkan dalam set stem Malaysia.
